Full Time Firefighter
The City of Coleman, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a full-time firefighter for the City of Coleman Fire Department. The applicant must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays. The requirements are as follows:
- Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Candidates must possess a current Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Structural Certification by date of hire
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a firefighter in either a paid or voluntary capacity
- Candidates must have a minimum of a “Class B Exempt” State of Texas driver’s license or be able to obtain same within 90 days of employment as well as possess a good driving record
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Working a 2/2/3 schedule (aka 48/48/72) 16 hours per 24 hour period are automatically paid with 8 hours rest time that will be paid if response is required during these hours, per FLSA standards
- Respond to fire/rescue/medical/MVC/hazmat incidents and perform required duties
- Use computer equipment for various tasks, such as entering CFS reports
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment, apparatus and facilities
- Assist Fire Marshal in public education and inspections
- Maintain physical fitness level necessary to respond and execute required duties of the position

The salary for the position shall be based on qualifications. The annual base salary range for this position is $42,690.07 -$53,314.05. The position will remain open until filled and is subject to close without notice.
