Financial/Tax Information Information
The City of Coleman recognizes the importance of maintaining the public trust through financial transparency. It is the responsibility of the City Manager to prepare and present an annual budget to the City Council in accordance with state law. Proposed budgets are prepared, filed with the City Secretary, and posted online for review for a minimum of 15 days prior to a Public Hearing on the proposed budget, and a minimum of 30 days before the adoption of a tax rate.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase
The Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase has been amended for a new Public Hearing on September 18, 2025.
Section 26.05 of the Tax Code specifies that a Public Hearing must be held if the governing body seeks to adopt a tax rate that exceeds the lower of the No New Revenue tax rate, or the Voter Approval tax rate.
FY2025-2026 Proposed Budget
The FY2025-2026 Proposed Budget for the City of Coleman has been filed with the Office of the City Secretary as required by Local Government Code Section 102.005 as of August 4, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. A Public Hearing will be held on the budget on August 21, 2025, at 5:15 p.m.
Notice About 2025 Tax Rates
Section 26.04(e) of the Tax Code specifies that by August 7th, or as soon thereafter as practicable, cities must post on the city's website the above form specifying the No New Revenue tax rate and the Voter Approval tax rate, the estimated amount of interest and sinking fund balances, and the estimated amount of maintenance and operation or general fund balance remaining at the end of the current fiscal year that are not encumbered with or by corresponding existing debt obligations, and a schedule of the city's debt obligations. Notice of Adopted 2024 Tax Rate
THE CITY OF COLEMAN ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.50 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $-9.40.Budgets/Audits
